You might have experienced sometimes: you insert the USB memory device in the computer and you’re told it is not recognized. Well, there are many possible causes for that, some of them are more serious than others, but most of the cases can be solved. At Customdrives® we will try to help you so if it happens, you can fix it as soon as possible.
All right, if the computer does not recognize the promotional USB, the first thing we should do is restart the computer. Most of the problems are solved this way and not recognizing the custom USB pen is not an exception. If it doesn’t work, we can disconnect the computer from its power source for about 15 minutes after switching it off. It can seem some kind of stupid idea, yes, but for some reason, it may work, so our advice is to try this. Another option could be connecting the personalized USB flash to another USB port, but it barely works (unless it’s a port with troubles).
Updating the USB driver
If none of those works, we should go a step further to see if the problem can be solved. So we will open the Device Manager. As you can see on the image, we should choose “Universal Serial Bus controllers”. When you right click into the USB you want, you choose the option Update Driver Software… to allow Windows 10 to update our USB driver.
If the personalised usb memory stick we want does not appear, we should go to Device Manager and right click into the first “Generic USB Hub” we find and choose the option “Update Sdriver Software”. We should choose “”Locate driver software (recommended)” and we will click on the option that allows us to choose the model Generic USB.
If by any chance nothing of this works, we will have to install the USB drivers again. But first, it is recommended to create a restore point or a security copy (just in case). After, we just have to go to “Generic USB Hub” right click on it and click on Uninstall. Once it is made, we will restart the computer so they get automatically installed. If it does not happen, we will go to the restore point we created not to have troubles.
If none of this works, we recommend you to go to another PC and try the USB, because it might be the USB the problematic and not the computer.
